The key to business today is intelligence; the knowledge of current trends, and how well your business can perform to best advantage of those trends.

In the online world, things can change fairly fast. Over the past few years we have witnessed a major acquisition strategy by Google. In a recent Google Analysts Day in October 2007, Eric Schmidt, Sergey Brin, and George Reyes from Google, gave an insightful CEO overview of where they saw the Internet changing, and the strategy Google was using to align themselves with these changes. Just how much Google itself influences changes in the Internet world would be an interesting study, but for now, listen to what these 'men in the know' have to say....

  • Massive global transition to cloud computing.
  • Ads have value in themselves - Google shows less ads; but they are extremely well targeted ads. This model works in every market. Using analytics in conjunction with Nielsen - the value to the end user is in the content of the ad. But, it has to be the right ad. Google is looking to much higher quality ads, on a global [many markets] basis.
  • The principle of targeting is the key focus of Google Ads at present.
  • It is possible for a small business to outsource everything, to quite a significant scale. The pricing and complexity are two key drivers, but the users want the sensibility that such resource utilisation provides.
