The Telco Enterprise Model
Before one can seek to manage Revenue Assurance they must understand
the complete Telco Enterprise Model, to better understand the flow
of revenue throughout the organisation, and potential areas of leakage.
The Telco Operations Model
The above schematic outlines the standard functional areas and
operations of a Telco as defined by the adopted eTOM [Enhanced Telecom
Operations Map] standard of the TMF [Telecommuncations Management
Forum].
Throughout this framework flows revenue streams, and like any river,
there are breaches of banks, dykes, overflows and blocked flows
– all resulting in revenue loss. This loss of revenue can
result in many, many different parts of the framework, including:
- Network operations - Switch failure, poor Network QoS, inefficient
network performance, and inefficient network fault management
and monitoring
- Mediation System
- Billing Systems
- Interconnection between Telcos
- Roaming between networks
- Prepaid
- Intelligent Networks
- Collections
- Debt Recovery and Credit Rating
